Why start with these buildings?
The Downtown Revitalization Committee created a brochure of a walking tour
of downtown Sleepy Eye. Due to the limit of what can be printed in a brochure,
these buildings have been identified as the ones for the brochure.
The QR Codes on the Walking Tour brochure will bring you to each of the website pages for these buildings.
If you have any information about any of the businesses in Sleepy Eye such as history or photos, please send them to [email protected]

This lot was platted 1872 as Brackenridge 1st Addition, Block 3, Lot 4 The first sale of this lot was in 1874 from Walter Brackenridge to Joseph Troutman in the amount of $550.00. The lot was then sold to John J. Bruckbauer and remained in the Bruckbauer family until late 2004. The existing building was erected in 1897. Over the years the building was used as a clothing store, an optician's office and a jewelry store. In 1996, Main Street Stylist began operating on the first floor and continues until present. In 2019, the building was purchased by Tami & Mark Kober. The second floor was extensively remodeled and update while retaining some original features, creating Sleepy Eye Uptown which is available for short term rentals. |
