Those cars are not driving down the middle of the street, they are parked there; that is how they did it back then.
From the information we can gather the first gas station was built in 1912. There is a note that states: "Apparently in 1882 W.W. Smith told many business men that is was time to build gas stations; there is a list of men in the original note."
